Migrate to MiraLink

In the coming months, Generac Energy Services will be upgrading the Aurora application to MiraLink, which provides 24-hour uptime of industrial backup power assets.

MiraLink offers a wide menu of real-time equipment monitoring, logging, and telemetry streams. The migration to MiraLink, an enterprise cloud platform, removes the dependency on locally maintained servers and provides strong redundancy in the event of an outage or audit. No longer will IT resources be required to address updates, data storage limitations, or other administrative tasks on the server side.

The platform has a minimal learning curve for the user, while providing the benefit of remote monitoring by stakeholders, from field technicians to administrators. Equipment is accessed from anywhere and support is able to assist with asset diagnosis when necessary. Remote support translates to the bottom line as expensive service calls will be reduced.

The MiraLink solution is agnostic to the manufacturer and presents seamless compatibility and integration with diverse hardware and software systems, providing flexibility and future-proofing investments. The platform also enables open integration with other energy service platforms.

With a dedicated environment for each customer, our solution prioritizes data privacy, security, and customization, providing an exclusive space tailored to individual needs.

This table highlights additional MiraLink features.

Robust Cloud Historian

The platform features comprehensive data storage, analysis, and visualization, empowering informed decision-making and predictive insights. Trends of common parameters (power, voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperatures, fuel levels, and so on) are displayed in real time allowing users to pinpoint any issues.

Equipment View

The application provides a list of equipment for the site along with any active alarms. Alarms can be setup to communicate urgency within the MiraLink platform. These visual reminders will populate the alarm tab summary view.

Simply click on the equipment from the equipment landing summary.

Clicking on the equipment will launch the tab view. Next, the user can scroll through telemetry, reports, and alarms to assist with diagnosis of any anomalies.

To configure alarm views, quick toggles live next to the equipment data value to enable those respective alarms. Colors are easily customized to best communicate urgency.

Connectivity Wizard

Built into the MiraLink platform, the Site Deployment feature guides field technicians and channel partners through the basic steps to deploy a Site and to connect equipment. Parameters include location (postal address verifiable with latitude and longitude coordinates), generator asset model information, hardware serial numbers, power specifications, and a gateway ID.

Once the user does a quick walk through and enters values for common fields, generator(s) status is verified within the user interface. Telemetry data can then be monitored on an ongoing basis so that onsite resources are able to monitor and manage equipment in real time remotely.

Journal

Equipment Survey Data, Logs

Users can continually add logs in order to build a maintenance history over time to support hardware and equipment record keeping.

The Journal feature provides the ability to:

  • Document and make sharable commissioning and installation details.

  • Include comments with the maintenance logs.

  • Maintain reports and captures, for example to post photos of any equipment issues or damage.

  • Fields are customizable: For example, you might want to include service provider details.

  • Equipment-specific hardware guides can be retrieved in application, including here, for quick reference.

Reports

MiraLink offers integrated support for connected ATSs and Time-To-Bus/Initiating ATS reporting. NFPA 99/110 test report automatically generated after every run.

  • MiraLink also supports custom reporting for 3rd party integration.

  • Advanced, customizable reporting available for environmental, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) and ESG.

With each engine run, an event is created to provide a report with the event information and performance data. The executed event reports (out-of-the box Equipment Run Reports) are found in the Report History.

Automated Reports

Generator Run Report

The Generator Run Report, downloadable to a .CSV file, is leveraged to track asset run-time hours across three key categories: test (maintenance), outages, and for asset run or activation hours. Fuel levels are also indicated.

The report is used at client installations where state regulators could audit run records in situations, for example, where Air Quality Indices (AQIs) would otherwise limit or not permit test-maintenance Run Types.

On-screen quick filtering allows the user to filter out run types or change the date range, useful for filing exports.

NFPA

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) provides requirements for backup power so that when an outage occurs, vital services that impact health and safety are not disrupted. Emergency power infrastructure includes devices that switch from the electrical grid to a local source. The generator must fire up within ten seconds and it must be demonstrated monthly that the backup power equipment is in this readiness state and that ATSs (automatic transfer switches) perform as expected. NFPA reports are generated automatically in MiraLink.

  • Includes asset nameplate information.

  • Configurable interval rate (1, 5, 10, or 15 minutes).

  • Configurable data template with NFPA item defaults.

Asset Level Scheduling

  • Interface support for scheduling management.

  • Support for initiating a future control signal: add, modify, cancel for test scheduling/exercising and grid services.

  • Control to setpoints.

  • Group assets across sites and geographies for scheduling aggregations.

Scheduled Dispatch

MiraLink provides a mechanism to schedule or control a site generator for an event, for example for scheduled outages, load shedding, testing and maintenance, as well as for Demand Response events as part of programs at the utility level.

User Management

Notifications triggered by alarm activity are managed on the fly by the user, to optimize alerts. The platform supports both email and SMS alerts.

User permissions are managed using an administrative modal that enables/disables access by feature. Controls are also provided to enable/disable site access.

Communications: Redundancy

Offline gateway storage supports buffering data on the edge device in the event of a lapse of cloud connectivity. Limitations apply and are dependant upon the frequency of data calls. Please reach out to Support for details.

Control

  • Permissions quickly adjusted and associated with user.

  • Support for analog and digital values.

  • Accessible via mobile, tablet, or PC.
